Directions

There's nothing quite like a good, hearty meal made with fresh ingredients and plenty of flavor. This Asian-inspired beef skillet brings together tender grass-fed beef, colorful garden vegetables, fresh ginger, and garlic in a savory, naturally sweetened sauce.

Ingredients

For the Beef & Vegetables

  • 1 lb grass-fed beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 1 tablespoon avocado oil
  • 2 cups organic broccoli florets
  • 1 organic red bell pepper, sliced
  • 2 organic carrots, thinly sliced
  • 1 small red onion, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds, for garnish

For the Ginger Garlic Sauce

  • ¼ cup coconut aminos (or reduced-sodium tamari)
  • 1 tablespoon raw honey
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
  • ½ teaspoon ground turmeric
  • ¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon arrowroot powder mixed with 1 tablespoon cold water (optional, for thickening)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the sauce. In a small bowl, whisk together coconut aminos, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, turmeric, and black pepper. Set aside.
  2. Sear the beef. Heat avocado oil in a large cast iron skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add beef in a single layer, working in batches if needed. Sear for 1–2 minutes per side until browned. Remove and set aside.
  3. Cook the vegetables. Add broccoli, carrots, and red onion to the skillet. Stir-fry for 3–4 minutes. Add bell pepper and cook for another 2 minutes, keeping the vegetables slightly crisp.
  4. Add the aromatics. Stir in fresh garlic and ginger. Cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Bring it together. Return beef and its juices to the skillet. Pour in the sauce and toss everything together. Cook for another 1–2 minutes, until the beef is cooked to your liking and the sauce is heated through.
  6. Thicken if desired. Stir in the arrowroot mixture and simmer briefly until the sauce lightly coats the beef and vegetables.
  7. Finish and serve. Sprinkle with sliced green onions and sesame seeds. Serve over brown rice, jasmine rice, or cauliflower rice.

From the Farm

One thing I've learned is that good food doesn't have to be complicated. When you start with quality beef, fresh vegetables, and ingredients that come from the earth, you've already got the foundation for something good.

We believe the way we grow and raise our food matters. And we believe taking care of our bodies starts with the choices we make around the dinner table.

Good food. Good stewardship. A little gratitude for the blessings we've been given.
